What is CAR T-cell therapy?

CAR T-cell therapy

CAR T-cell therapy is a very new treatment where your cells are modified in a laboratory to help your body to fight Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia cells.

This treatment is very new and (at time of writing) is not currently available in the UK to people with Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia. There are some serious side effects to the treatment with around 1 in 5 people needing to be treated in an intensive care unit following CAR T-cell therapy. It is still undergoing testing in other forms of lymphoma.
