WMUK support for Health Professionals

Healthcare professionals need extra support when dealing with rare conditions & blood cancers like Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia.

Consultants, GPs, nurses, carers, & allied health professionals, can’t be expected to know everything and, at WMUK, we understand the pressures and increased workload that the NHS is currently facing.

We want to be able to support healthcare professionals in any way we can because we all have the same focus in mind: To provide the best possible care to patients & their families.

The support we offer

We know you want quick, easy to access information on WM for both you and your patients. You can find everything you need to understand more about WM, access educational information and better support your WM patients right here. Please get in touch if there are other ways we can support healthcare professionals to provide the best possible care to WM patients & their families.

Supporting newly diagnosed patients

Whilst we know as healthcare professionals you’re used to handling a new diagnosis with sensitivity, we also appreciate the time pressures on clinicians, which is where we come in. If you have a newly diagnosed WM patient, we can offer support, advice, and information. Our Clinical Advisory Board can offer expert assistance, we have a dedicated Nurse Support Line that is available for patients, a dedicated Patient Support Manager who can support and advise, and we have a superb evolving WM library with a wealth of information for newly diagnosed patients. We want to work with you to support every WM patient from diagnosis onwards.

Education and Knowledge

We currently offer CPD accredited Nurse Study Days where you can learn more about Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia and treatment. You can still access our last one here.

We are hoping to expand our CPD accredited training – if you’d like to register for more information please do get in touch to join our database and receive news and info.

We also hold an annual Patient Doctor Summit where you have the opportunity to hear from patients and international experts in WM.

We also have an outstanding team of experts on our Clinical Advisory Board who are always available to discuss any aspects of WM or treatment with fellow clinicians.

Patient Support Line

We have a dedicated Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia support line that is managed by a Haematology Nurse, and is available to provide advice, support and further information.

Although we are unable to give specific clinical advice, we can answer some of the more generic questions around subjects such as vaccines, Covid-19 advice, how to navigate their care, other support available etc.

Patient Information

Our patient information is constantly evolving – You can signpost your patients to our:

WMUK want to work with Healthcare Professionals, to try and ease some of their workload but whilst also ensuring that we champion and advocate for our Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia community.
