The Support Line is there for anyone affected by WM, not just patients.

Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Yes, there is no cost calling the WM Support line within the UK. If you are calling outside of the UK, charges may apply. There is no charge for emailing us, no matter your location in the world.

Our experienced blood cancer nurses can offer up-to-date information and advice on diagnosis, treatment and management of Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia. However they cannot replace the individual medical advice you are given by your healthcare team.

We are here to support you, and our nurses can provide emotional support to anyone who calls, including signposting to mental-health organisations and services for more in-depth and specialist support.

The WMUK Support Line is not an emergency helpline, and if you or someone you are with are in a medical or mental health emergency, you should call the emergency services.

The Line is there for anyone affected by Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia – patients in any stage of the WM journey, family members, friends, carers, employers. If you have questions about WM or need a listening ear, then we’re here for you.

The WMUK Support Line is a confidential service and we will not share your details or the content of any conversation with third parties. The only exception to this is when doing so is needed in order to comply with the nurses’ code of professional conduct, or the law. Examples when it would be necessary for us to share your details is when anyone reports serious self-harm, a child is deemed at risk, or when someone expresses the intention of harming someone else. You can find the full Confidentiality Policy for the WMUK Support Line here [Link to doc].

We’re here for you, however long you need us to be there. The only limits on the Support Line are our opening hours. There is no limit on the length of the calls, or how many times you call or email us.
