Since November, the WM community has come together to Walk for Waldenstrom's. The aim: raise £17,000 to fund the WMUK Support Line before 17 April 2022.
At the time of writing, only a few hundred pounds stands between them and their target. Walkers like Simon (top left with friends), Louise (top right), Pennie (bottom left) and Steve (bottom right), have been pounding pavements, taking to the trails and notching up kilometres in a bid to help WMers across the UK access expert information and support whenever they need it.
We cannot thank the WM community enough for this amazing support. It means that we'll be able to help more WMers, ensuring that none feel alone or in the dark about their disease. In light of the £17,000 target being hit, we've decided to up the target to £25,000. This extra money will mean we have secure funding for the Line in 2023. If the WM community smashes this, any funds over and above the £25,000 will be put towards helping the charity support WMers during 2022, funding projects like new patient booklets and nurse training.
The WMUK Support Line is due to be launched later this year. Staffed by a healthcare professional, it will be open three hours a day for five days a week. Anyone will be able to call or email the line to get expert information or advice, bringing them reassurance and empowering them.
