Since September, WMers - alongside other people who are classed as severely immunosuppressed - have been eligible for a third full 'primary' dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Roughly three-quarters of eligible people have had their third jab, but there remains a significant proportion of people who have not.
WMers can have the third dose of their vaccine just eight weeks after their second dose. With the new system, anyone who hasn't yet had their third dose and has a clinical referral letter from their doctor, can register online via the NHS COVID-19 booking system, where there is now an option for booking a third dose.
The roll out of the third jab has been hampered, with many WMers reporting difficulties and confusion when trying to book their appointment through their GP. This new drive to get everyone vaccinated a third time is therefore welcomed.
